Day 2: "Rise and shine at 7am!" We only had one full day in Paris, so we had to make the most of it. We went to the metro station, and after 30 minutes of "communicating" with the French people at the station, we finally realized that there were two more floors of the station below us. We needed to be at the bottom level in order to go to Versailles. It was about a 30 minute ride from our hotel to Versailles, but it was definitely worth it. It was absolutely beautiful and larger than I anticipated. The inside was beautiful too, complete with gold in-crested pipe organs, thrones, detailed ceilings and carpets, shiny chandeliers, and intricate crown moldings(Dad, I took a pic of this because I thought you would appreciate that =] ) .

After Versailles, we went back into the heart of Paris. We went to the Louvre Museum, where the Mona Lisa and many other famous paintings and sculptures can be found. After the Louvre, We went to the D'Orsay Museum, where Van Gough and Monet's artwork can be found. We saw a bridge where people put locks on the fence of the bridge and then throw their keys into the river as well. My friend was in Paris on Valentines Day and said she saw many proposals on this bridge and even a bride and groom. She also said the streets were flooded with rose petals and everyone had a rose. Anyways, after the museums, we ate some crepes from a local pastry shop and got a few French chocolates while we were at it. Shortly after, we saw some sort of protest going on in the street and watched the "parade" go by. We then hopped onto our "hop on/hop off" bus tour with the tickets that our program leader gave us and headed to the Notre Dame cathedral. Once again, it was beautiful, complete with candles, detailed ancient architecture, and stained glass. After that, we went to a local market where everything was labeled in french. We grabbed a couple cheeses and bread to try out and took it to our hotel to have a nice little French meal. 3 out of 4 of the cheeses turned out to be smelly and horrible tasting. But, it was all a part of the experience. We then went to the Moulin Rouge to take some pictures and explore the area. After that, I got some escargot to eat and it was, to my surprise, delicious. It was not as chewy as I thought it would be. It was loaded with pesto and tasted a bit like chicken...but better. I actually had to take the edible part of the snail out of the shell and eat it, so I just kinda tried to do that part quickly and put it in my mouth.

Day 2: We woke up as early as we could and ran(literally) to the Arch de Triumph. This is the arch that overlooks all of Paris and is in the heart of the fashion capital of the world. We didn't have to to climb it(or the Eiffel tower for that matter) unfortunately. This just means that I have to go back. I LOVED Paris. Everything that we did there was free too, with our student cards.
Once again, I made a video for you guys to watch =]
